The student masters the foundations of sustainable development thinking and its ecological, economic, cultural and social dimensions, as well as the formation and use of natural and other resources on earth. The course-specific learning objectives are as follows:
INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT 3cr.
- The student understands the mode of thought that forms the foundation of the degree program.
- The student is familiar with the treaties guiding sustainable development and the indicators with which to evaluate its fulfillment.
- The student is familiar with methods of promoting sustainable development.
NATURAL RESOURCES AND THEIR USE 2cr.
-The student knows the amount and location of main natural and energy resources and acknowledges their significance as a regulator of population and economic growth and welfare.
- The student is familiar with methods of exploiting natural resources as well as the environmental impacts of their exploitation.
