Smart City Ferries RDI-project studies the possibilities of intelligent (autonomous/remote controlled etc.) of mass traffic in urban waterways in Turku, Helsinki and Espoo mainly by Novia University of Applied Sciences, Aalto University and Turku University of Applied Sciences. There is a lot of technological, safety and other issues to study, but also the human behavior and needs to be concerned. http://www.aboamare.fi/About-ÄlyVESI
The responsibility of TUAS Design Thinking Research Group is to create different (service) design concepts especially for Turku area (the riverside, the archipelago) and for both recreation and everyday transporting needs. The work has started in the autumn 2016 and there is already material for concept ideation. Now we want to get more defined and concrete concepts to be displayed in Stockholm Fair's Greenhouse area 6-10 February 2018.
